Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy covers the TunnelBar Connect macOS app and this website. The app connects your Mac to an SSH server you choose. We do not operate a relay for your tunnel traffic.
Data on your Mac
The app stores connection preferences, references to key files, verified public host identities, and network recovery records locally in ~/.tunnelbar/. It does not include advertising or analytics SDKs or upload these records to us.
Credentials and diagnostics
SSH passwords are stored in the macOS Keychain. Private key files remain in the location you choose. The app stores a reference, not a copy. Local diagnostics record predefined connection events, not passwords, private keys, or browsing destinations.
Your SSH server
Connections go to your chosen server, whose operator can receive your IP address, SSH username, and traffic forwarded through it. Its logging and retention are controlled by that operator. SSH protects transport to the server. It does not make every app or destination anonymous.
Website and hosting
This website stores only your language and appearance preferences in your browser. It has no advertising or analytics scripts. Cloudflare provides hosting and may process IP addresses and request data to deliver and protect the website under its own privacy policy.
Apple and support
Apple handles App Store downloads, account information, payments, and refunds under its own policies. If you email us, we receive your address and the information you include and use them to respond. Do not send passwords or private keys.
Retention, choices, and changes
Local data remains on your Mac until you remove it. Keychain entries are managed separately. Disconnect and resolve any pending network restoration before removing recovery data. You can clear website preferences in your browser and contact us about access, correction, or deletion of support correspondence. We retain that correspondence only as needed for the request and applicable legal obligations. Updates to this policy will show a new date.
